The Fort Saskatchewan and Lamont County Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting an NDP Roundtable Discussion on Monday, August 17, 2026, giving local business owners a direct line to provincial policy talk. The event features MLA Rakhi Pancholi, Deputy Leader of Alberta’s NDP, and is open to Chamber members and area professionals. It aims to create a forum for dialogue on NDP priorities that affect employers in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
The Chamber says the roundtable is part of its non-partisan effort to connect the business community with elected officials from all sides of the political spectrum. Earlier this year, the organization hosted a United Conservative Party MLA Ministers Fireside Chat in May, featuring local MLA Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk and other government ministers.
“As a non-partisan organization, the Fort Saskatchewan and Lamont County Regional Chamber of Commerce remains committed to creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue between government, industry, and the business community,” the Chamber stated after that event.
The NDP gathering lands as Alberta heads toward an October 2026 separation referendum, and recent polls show a tightening race between the governing UCP and the NDP. In the 2023 provincial election, NDP candidate Taneen Rudyk picked up 37.4 per cent of the vote in Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville, down from a previous NDP hold on the riding. The current MLA, Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk of the UCP, captured 57.9 per cent of the vote last time out.
Fort Saskatchewan sits inside Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, a 533 km² industrial zone northeast of Edmonton that has attracted over $30 billion in investment. For business owners dealing with energy, manufacturing, and supply-chain issues, the roundtable offers a chance to raise questions directly.
The Chamber’s executive director, Colin Fagnan, has stressed the importance of networking and collaboration between government and industry since taking the role in March 2025. More details on how to attend the August 17 roundtable can be found on the Chamber’s events calendar.
