A new Game Room has opened its doors at the Thompson Regional Community Centre in Thompson, Manitoba, giving families and youth a fresh indoor entertainment option.
The facility, located inside the Gordon Beard Arena at 226 Mystery Lake Road, offers 18 different activities. Visitors can try Jumbo Connect 4, Jumbo Jenga, foosball, mini-putt, floor bowling, cornhole, axe throwing, arcade bowling, arcade basketball, a bouncy house, air hockey, ping pong, arcade games, mini trampoline, Tic Tac Toe, domed table hockey, board games, and an eating/board game area.
The Game Room runs Wednesday through Sunday with three two-hour time slots each day: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission is $5 per person per time slot, and punch cards are available—$45 for 10 visits for one person or $180 for a family of up to four.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The space can also be rented for private events like birthday parties, with Xbox and Nintendo Switch games available. To book, call 204-677-7952.
The Game Room adds to the growing list of recreation features at the community centre, which already includes two arenas, the Bill Comaskey Wellness Centre fitness facility, a multi-sport gym, an indoor walking track, and a multi-purpose room. The city of about 13,000 has been putting money into recreation, including hosting the 2026 Manitoba Winter Games and building a new aquatic facility, backed by $15 million in government funding.
