Families in Burlington can get up close with big trucks and heavy equipment while supporting a good cause at the annual Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Hosted by the Landscape Ontario Golden Horseshoe Chapter, the free event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Paul the Apostle Parish at 2265 Headon Road.
Children and adults will have the chance to explore excavators, ride-on mowers, dump trucks, skid steers, and loaders. From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., the event will hold a silent hour with no horns or loud noises to make it more comfortable for visitors with noise sensitivity and young children.
The Burlington Food Bank is the official charity partner and will be on site collecting food donations. The need for support is greater than ever, with 20.4 per cent of Halton residents facing food insecurity, according to the 2025 Ontario Nutritious Food Basket Survey. The food bank saw a 33 per cent increase in new users in 2024, serving close to 35,000 people by the end of that year.
Formed in 1991, the Burlington Food Bank provides about 1,750 pounds of food to residents each day and relies on over 12,000 hours of volunteer time each year just for weekday operations. The Touch-a-Truck event offers a simple way for families to spend a morning outdoors while helping neighbours in need.
