Seniors in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows can now get out and explore local spots for free this summer, thanks to a new slate of day trips on the Seniors Community Shuttle from the Ridge Meadows Seniors Society. The fully funded day trips run through July and August 2026, with stops at Osprey Village and Langley Farm Market, Grabenhorst Park and a fruit stand, Pitt Lake birdwatching and Hopcott Farms, and The Patch Brewery with a dyke walk. All rides are free for anyone aged 55 and up, and there is no membership needed to join.
“The shuttle is a free service for those 55 years and older,” the group told the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News. “It is paid for by the United Way Aging In Motion grant stream and run by the Ridge Meadows Seniors Society.”
Trips leave from both the Maple Ridge Seniors Activity Centre at 12150 224th Street and the Pitt Meadows Seniors Activity Centre at 19065 119B Avenue. To reserve a seat, call 604-467-4993 between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Bookings are taken up to two weeks ahead of each trip.
The program is funded through the United Way British Columbia Aging in Motion Transportation Grant. Across the province, that grant served more than 3,000 seniors and provided over 15,800 rides last year through two dozen programs. For Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, the focus is purely on social trips, separate from the society’s volunteer driver program that charges fees for local and hospital rides.
With four destinations offered from each centre — eight outings in total — organizers hope the free shuttles help more older residents stay connected, enjoy the summer weather, and visit places they might not reach on their own.
