The UV index is forecast to hit 8, which is very high. Environment Canada recommends extra sun protection, like avoiding being outdoors during midday hours, wearing a hat and shirt, and slopping on sunscreen. It is a good day to get outside early, but be smart about sun safety.
The clear conditions will not last. Showers are expected to roll in overnight, and there is an 80 per cent chance of thunderstorms between midnight and Tuesday morning. Wind gusts from the south-southwest could reach 40 to 50 km/h. While no weather alerts are currently in effect for the Hanover area, the shift from sunshine to storms is a classic summer pattern for Southern Ontario.
Residents with outdoor plans should enjoy the warm weather earlier in the day and keep an eye on the sky later. Make sure loose items like patio furniture are secured before nightfall. The stormy weather is expected to clear up by late Tuesday morning.
