Drivers in View Royal, B.C. will face single-lane alternating traffic on a section of Island Highway this week while the town conducts asphalt repairs.
According to the Town of View Royal, the work runs Monday, July 20 to Wednesday, July 22, 2026, between 9am and 3pm each day. Crews will patch pavement on the stretch between Admirals Road and View Royal Avenue.
Flaggers will be on site to guide vehicles through the work zone, but delays are expected. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time or use alternate routes during the repair hours.
The repairs follow a busy period for the Island Highway corridor. In February, BC Hydro conducted emergency underground transmission maintenance in the 200-block, closing eastbound lanes for about two weeks before suspending the work. A $13.2 million joint federal-provincial investment is also funding dedicated transit lanes, bike lanes, and pedestrian accessibility upgrades along the highway for RapidBus transit improvements through the West Shore.
