The Town of Cochrane has released a new online map to help residents keep tabs on road construction projects throughout the community. Posted July 16, 2026 on the town website, the map shows which roads are under construction, what work is happening, and how far along each project is.
The timing is meant to help drivers plan their summer travel routes around active work zones. This year’s construction push includes a pulverize and pave program that started June 23, 2026. As part of that work, crews are also putting in concrete sidewalks and curbs in select areas.
Residents whose driveways are affected by concrete placement may not be able to access them for three to four days at a time. The town advises people to watch for notices and plan ahead if they live on a street listed on the map.
The new map arrives as council deals with challenges on larger infrastructure efforts. A major upgrade planned for Second Street was put on hold after the only contractor bid came in at $9.5 million, more than double the $4.06 million budgeted. Council rejected the bid and is now looking at how to redirect that money.
Mayor Peter Politis has said the town faces a 69-year backlog of infrastructure needs. “We could double our roads budget and still be 34-and-a-half years behind,” he noted. Roads like 15th Avenue are among those needing serious attention.
The construction map is available on the Town of Cochrane website. The pulverize and pave project details are outlined in a notice of construction posted by the town.
