The Town of Cochrane has given residents a fresh look at where road crews are working this month, posting an August 4 construction update that maps out every active project including concrete work across the Ontario community.
It is the second summer progress report from the municipality, following a July 16 notice that also included a map and breakdown of ongoing construction. The latest Construction and Road Work Update advises residents of ongoing road construction.
Mayor Peter Politis has said the town is tackling a 69-year backlog of infrastructure and road repairs, a challenge made worse by a three-fold increase in heavy truck traffic over the past decade. The industrial vehicles use local streets as a shortcut between Highway 11 and Highway 652, putting wear on roads far beyond what a municipality of about 5,000 people can handle on its own.
Since August 2025 Cochrane has been working with the Ministry of Transportation to find funding for interim upgrades. The price tag is expected to surpass six million dollars, with annual maintenance running around $250,000.
Residents can view the full construction map and legend on the town website. The update is not a full project list but a snapshot of active sites for drivers and neighbours to watch for.
