Cochrane, Ontario is in for some of the warmest weather of the season later this week, with temperatures expected to climb to 28°C on Friday under a mix of sun and cloud. Before that, Thursday will see sunny skies and a high of 27°C, according to Environment Canada.
On Wednesday, there’s a 40 percent chance of showers and a high of 23°C under mostly cloudy skies. The UV index is forecast to reach 7, which is considered high, on both Wednesday and Thursday. Environment Canada is reminding residents to take sun safety steps like wearing sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses during peak sun hours.
The current conditions as of mid-afternoon Wednesday show a temperature of 23.6°C with mostly cloudy skies. No weather alerts are in effect for the area.
The forecast high of 28°C on Friday is about four degrees above Cochrane’s usual August daytime high of 24°C. Overnight lows will range from 10°C to 17°C, with Friday night staying well above the seasonal norm of 11°C.
Heading into the weekend, the weather will shift. Saturday brings a chance of showers and a high of 24°C, while Sunday will be cloudier with another chance of showers and a cooler high of 21°C. With the UV index at high levels earlier in the week, Environment Canada suggests seeking shade when the sun is at its strongest, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
