Blood Tribe‘s Family and Community Support Services took first place in the Kainai Powwow and Celebration Parade on July 18, 2026, in Standoff, Alberta. The parade was part of a week of festivities from July 14 to 19, celebrating community spirit and culture.
The FCSS float came in ahead of the Blood Tribe Department of Health, which earned second, and Red Crow Community College, which placed third. Marvel Horses with the Mountain Horse Family Float finished fourth.
Judges Constable Gladstone and Ramona Tomkins made the final call on the winners. Photos of the event were taken by Blood Tribe Communications Officer Amber Sugai.
FCSS, operating out of Standoff, provides key services to the community. That includes the Kainai Food Bank Society, the Kainaiwa Bottle and Recycling Depot, child development centres, and the Moses Lake Shelter. Tia Fox is the office manager and acting director.
The parade was one highlight of the larger Kainai Powwow and Celebration. Throughout the week, many Blood Tribe departments and groups hosted community breakfasts and barbecues for residents.
