Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation is set to celebrate the grand opening of The Garage 283 on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a free community BBQ provided by Penner Oil, according to the Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation.
The event invites all residents to enjoy complimentary food while marking the launch of the new local business. “Join us for the Grand Opening of The Garage 283 on Friday, July 31, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.! Penner Oil is a Winnipeg-based petroleum distributor with over 30 years of experience serving First Nations communities across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and northwestern Ontario. The company’s involvement reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting Indigenous communities.
The celebration offers a positive moment for Sandy Bay, which recently experienced a tragedy when an animal rescue worker died following a dog attack in mid-July. Chief Trevor Prince and the council called the death a heartbreaking loss.
