A 38-year-old man from God’s Lake Narrows has died after being stabbed in the remote fly-in community, and a 19-year-old suspect now faces a manslaughter charge. RCMP were called to a home in God’s Lake Narrows around 9:30 a.m. on July 18, 2026, and learned the victim had already been taken to the local nursing station with significant stab wounds.
The man was later airlifted roughly 250 kilometres northwest to Thompson General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The name of the deceased has not been released by police.
On July 23, 2026, officers arrested Alvin Spence without incident in Winnipeg. The 19-year-old is charged with manslaughter and remains in custody. The investigation is being led by the God’s Lake Narrows RCMP detachment, with support from RCMP Major Crime Services and the Forensic Identification Section.
