Hanover Raceway in Hanover, Ontario is set to host the 25th anniversary of its biggest harness racing night on Saturday, August 1, 2026, capped off with a fireworks show. The evening is built around the $50,000 Dream of Glory Trot Final, a race for three-year-old horses bred in the province, with the first race leaving the gate at 5:30 p.m.
The Dream of Glory is the track’s signature event, named after a Hall of Fame stallion whose foals went on to earn more than $48 million in purses. This year, the final comes together without elimination heats. Six horses advanced straight to the main event: DA Masstermind, Silver Detector, Stonebridge Wings, Switch, Thor B Good, and Toss Of The Dice.
Live harness racing starts at 5:30 p.m., and the evening will wrap up with a fireworks display expected around 10:15 p.m., a tradition that regularly draws thousands of spectators. Admission is always free on race days. 94.5 CoOL radio will be on site from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. broadcasting live from the grounds.
A 50/50 raffle will raise money for the Hanover Barons, the town’s junior hockey team that captured the provincial championship in 2025. Scott Price, general manager of the raceway, has said he hopes events like this help bring a new generation of fans to the sport.
The raceway opened its 2026 season on June 6, and live racing continues every Saturday through late September. It has been a cornerstone of local harness racing since 1974, when it was picked as an original host track for the Ontario Sires Stakes program. The facility is run by the Hanover, Bentinck and Brant Agricultural Society, now in its 162nd year.
