Bridgewater and all of Lunenburg County are under a Yellow Heat Warning as a hot and humid air mass settles over mainland Nova Scotia, with daytime highs expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius through Friday and possibly into the weekend.
The warning was first issued by Environment Canada and the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Daytime temperatures are forecast to sit between 30 and 33 C, with Humidex values making it feel more like 36 to 38. Overnight lows will hover near 18 C, offering little relief from the heat.
The hot conditions are part of a larger weather system that has also triggered heat warnings across Prince Edward Island and parts of New Brunswick. The humid air is expected to persist, which means the warning could be extended through the weekend for some areas.
Health officials are reminding residents to drink plenty of water, check on neighbours who may be more at risk, and never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles. Older adults, infants, young children, and people with chronic health issues are especially vulnerable to heat-related illness, according to the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness.
The warning remains in effect for mainland Nova Scotia, with some communities possibly seeing conditions improve by Saturday.
