However, widespread smoke is expected to move in overnight and stick around through Thursday, August 6, dropping the high to 26 degrees.
The smoke is blowing in from wildfires burning in British Columbia and other regions. It could affect air quality and visibility. Health experts remind residents there is no safe level of exposure to some pollutants in wildfire smoke. It can cause headaches, breathing problems, and other health issues.
After the smoke clears out, the sun and heat return. Friday, August 7 is forecast to hit 32 degrees, making it the warmest day of the week. Saturday will be sunny with a high of 30, and Sunday will reach 27 degrees. On Monday, August 10, expect a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 26 degrees. Overnight lows will range from 10 to 14 degrees, offering some relief from the daytime heat.
The UV index is expected to reach 7, or high, on Wednesday, and 8, or very high, on Thursday. That means sun protection like hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen is important for anyone spending time outside, even on the smokier day. The Blood Tribe area typically sees average highs of about 25 degrees in August, so the coming days will feel hotter than usual.
