Eastman Immigrant Services is hosting a free family event at A.D. Penner Park in Steinbach, Manitoba, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The evening will feature birdhouse painting, outdoor games, and chances to meet new people.
The event is open to everyone, no matter their background. Organizers say it’s a way to bring together longtime residents and newcomers for a relaxed evening of fun and conversation. A.D. Penner Park is located next to the Steinbach Aquatic Centre on Park Road East.
Registration is required by July 31 and can be done through the Eastman Immigrant Services event page. The group, which helps newcomers settle into the Eastman and Interlake regions, runs programs out of its Steinbach office at 284 Reimer Ave, Suite D4.
The park itself offers plenty of space for activities, with playgrounds, sports fields, and a picnic shelter that can hold up to 100 guests. It’s named after Abraham Dueck Penner, a businessman who served as Steinbach’s mayor from 1971 to 1980.
Eastman Immigrant Services typically serves about 280 newly arrived families each year, with people from roughly 45 different nationalities represented. The organization also runs the annual Cultures in the City event each June, which draws over 10,000 visitors for food, performances, and entertainment from 20 cultural groups.
