Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston spent part of his provincial summer tour in Bridgewater on July 28, 2026, meeting with residents and joining the fun at The Big Ex.
The visit was a stop on a wider tour of communities across the province. Premier Houston, along with the South Shore PC team, attended the South Shore Exhibition, which ran from July 27 to August 2 at the exhibition grounds on Exhibition Drive. Known to locals as The Big Ex, the event is the province’s largest agricultural exhibition and has been a tradition since 1891.
“It’s always great to get out and meet with Nova Scotians! Loved chatting with the hardworking people of Bridgewater alongside our South Shore PC team. Thank you to everyone who took the time say hello and celebrate The Big Ex with us last week!” Premier Houston shared in a social media post on August 6.
The South Shore PC team includes MLA Kim Masland of Queens and MLA Susan Corkum-Greek of Lunenburg. The region’s former representative, Becky Druhan, left the PC Party in October 2025 and joined the Liberals in May 2026. Bridgewater is the largest town on the South Shore, with a 2021 population of 8,790.
Premier Houston’s summer tour also included a stop at the Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce. During the tour, he has pointed to growth in sectors like defence and wind energy while acknowledging the province’s $1.24-billion deficit. The Bridgewater visit came just two weeks after the Premier’s vehicle was damaged during a protest in Wolfville on July 15. While protesters were present at his Bridgewater appearance, no violence or property damage was reported.
