Local Mounties and firefighters scrambled to respond to three separate fires within a two-hour span early on the morning of August 1, 2025. The RCMP now believe the blazes are connected and have launched a joint investigation with the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
The first call came in at about 2:40 a.m. for a fully engulfed structure on Edwards Avenue. The building was still under construction and no one was inside. While officers were on scene there, a second fire was reported on Larose Avenue at roughly 3:00 a.m. – a vehicle completely ablaze in a business parking lot.
Just after 4:30 a.m., crews were called to a grass fire on Fischer Avenue. That fire was quickly brought under control. The Pas Fire Department assisted RCMP at all three scenes.
Investigators are treating the fires as linked and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Residents who saw anything suspicious or have security video from the areas are urged to call The Pas RCMP at 204-627-6204.
