The Heritage North Museum in Thompson, Manitoba is launching its weekly flea market and BBQ fundraiser every Saturday in August, giving residents a chance to browse local vendors, enjoy food and music, and support the museum’s work.
The market runs from the museum parking lot at 162 Princeton Drive, weather permitting. Vendors can rent a table for $20 or a parking space for $10 to run a “Junk in the Trunk” style sale out of their vehicle, with a limited number of tables provided, so bringing your own is a good idea.
Alongside the market stalls, the museum will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks, with music, kids’ games, and museum tours also on offer. Families are welcome to bring a blanket and picnic on the lawn.
Executive Director Sarah Brown says the 2025 edition was an overwhelming success. Proceeds from the markets go toward future programming and conservation efforts at the museum, which preserves the heritage of Thompson and the surrounding region. The nonprofit museum drew more than 1,000 exhibit visitors last year in its first full season after pandemic closures.
