Grimsby residents can now nominate their favourite local businesses for the 2026 Business Excellence Awards. The Grimsby and District Chamber of Commerce opened nominations this week, with the window closing on Monday, September 28, 2026.

The awards celebrate eight categories: Small Biz, Big Impact; Big(ger) Business; Rising Star; Next Generation; Collaboration is Key; Community Impact; Trailblazer; and Innovate|HER. Self-nominations are encouraged, but businesses that have won the same award in the past two years are not eligible.

Judging is done by Chamber of Commerce professionals from across Ontario to ensure an unbiased evaluation. The awards ceremony is planned for November 2026, with registration opening soon. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

This year marks the fourth consecutive year for the awards since they were re-launched. Last year’s ceremony on October 23, 2025, at Gizio Banquet Centre drew more than 100 guests, the largest turnout to date.

The Chamber says the awards are a way to recognize the many contributions local businesses make to Grimsby’s economy and community. With over $4 billion in development expected in the next decade, the awards highlight the businesses that help shape the town’s character.
