The Wetaskiwin Public Library is inviting families to celebrate the end of its Summer Reading Club with a free party on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the library located at 5002-51 Avenue in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. The event will feature games, prizes, treats, and special activities for all ages to recognize children’s reading achievements throughout the summer.
This year’s Summer Reading Club was part of the national TD Summer Reading Club, Canada’s largest bilingual summer reading program for kids, delivered by over 2,200 public libraries. The 2026 theme, ‘Dive In!’, encouraged young readers to explore rivers, lakes, wetlands, and the ocean through books. The program is developed by Toronto Public Library in partnership with Library and Archives Canada and sponsored by TD Bank Group.
The wrap-up party is open to all ages and provides a final opportunity for families to celebrate reading accomplishments before the school year resumes. Participants can enjoy a variety of activities and treats as the library marks the successful conclusion of its summer programming. No registration is required, and residents of Wetaskiwin, the County of Wetaskiwin, and neighbouring Indigenous communities are reminded that library cards are free.
The Wetaskiwin Public Library has been serving the community since 1928, growing from a collection of 50 books to over 40,000 items today. The event listing on the library’s website provides full details. For more information, visit the library or check its online calendar.
