Community groups in Yorkton received $24,646.48 from Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan in the first quarter of 2026-27, covering April through June 2026. The funding was announced on August 10 and went to about 20 local organizations, including sports clubs, dance schools, service clubs, and youth programs.
The Yorkton Kinsmen Club received the largest grant at $6,529.77, followed by Lions Wilderness Experience Inc. with $3,549.11 and the Yorkton Lions Club Inc. with $2,393.14. Cultural and sports organizations were also supported, including the Yorkton Kalyna Ukrainian Dance School ($2,000.25), Skate Yorkton ($1,407.68), Yorkton Minor Football ($1,146.02), Yorkton Blitz Volleyball ($1,121.29 for its 18UW Black team), and Yorkton United Football Club Inc. ($439.59).
The grants are equal to 25 per cent of the net revenue raised by each charitable gaming event, up to a maximum of $100,000 per group annually. Groups do not apply separately; the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority automatically calculates amounts from financial reports submitted after licensed events.
Licensed charitable gaming activities that generate these grants include bingos, raffles, breakopen ticket sales, Texas hold ’em poker tournaments, and Monte Carlo events. Across the province, nearly $1.7 million was distributed to about 1,000 groups in roughly 260 Saskatchewan communities for the same quarter.
