Thompson RCMP seized drugs, cash, and stolen firearms during searches at two city homes on August 13, 2026. Officers from the local General Investigative Section and Crime Suppression Unit worked with the Manitoba RCMP Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services to execute warrants on Queens Bay and Juniper Drive. A targeted traffic stop was also carried out on Juniper Drive as part of the investigation.
Police recovered about 100 grams of cocaine, 746 grams of a cutting agent, a large amount of Canadian currency, and drug-related items. They also found a loaded .357 magnum revolver that had been reported stolen from Winnipeg, a 12-gauge pump action shotgun, and ammunition.
Louis Saindon, 49, of Thompson, faces eleven firearm offences plus charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime. Michael Naylor, 41, also of Thompson, is charged with nine firearm offences along with the same drug and property charges.
Mohamed Aman-Shekow, 21, of Calgary, was arrested on a warrant from Yellowknife. He is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of obstruction, identity fraud, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.
All three men have been remanded into custody. Two women from Flin Flon, ages 17 and 21, were also arrested in connection with the investigation and released on undertakings.
The bust comes about two months after Thompson launched its dedicated crime suppression unit, a partnership between the City of Thompson and the RCMP that focuses on downtown crime and the local drug trade. Thompson has one of the highest violent crime severity scores in Canada, about seven times the national average.
