Standoff, Alberta is getting a new after-school program for children at Saipoyi Elementary School and Issoitapi Elementary School starting August 31, 2026. Blood Tribe Recreation & Parks will run the program at the Multi-Purpose Building every school day until 5:00 PM through the 2026/2027 school year.
The program prioritizes working parents and offers supervised activities including sports, games, and arts and crafts. Children will be picked up after school by recreation vans, and parents are asked to pick them up at the Multi-Purpose Building by 5:00 PM.
Registration is limited to the first 24 paid sign-ups because of limited van seating. The cost is $25 per child each month. Parents can register by calling program coordinators at 403-737-3868 or Supervisor Lydia Mistaken Chief at 403-360-4945.
The after-school program is part of a growing list of recreation services for young people in Standoff. In August 2026, the Blood Tribe opened the new $37.3-million Blood Tribe Twin Rinks, an 86,000-square-foot facility with two NHL-sized ice surfaces.
Blood Tribe Recreation & Parks provides programs for youth aged 17 and under at facilities including the Multi-Purpose Building, Kainai Sports Centre, and Red Crow Park.
