The Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government is hosting a two-day Career and Entrepreneurship Fair at Äłät Nëhëjël (TH Hall) in Dawson City on September 22 and 23, combining job opportunities and business support under one roof. The event is open to everyone, with day one focused on careers and day two on starting a business.
On September 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., job seekers can explore career paths, meet professionals from a range of industries, and learn about training and employment opportunities. The following day, September 23, from noon to 6 p.m., is aimed at aspiring business owners and anyone interested in starting something of their own.
This fair builds on last year’s Dawson Job Fair, which was held at the same venue and featured the Wildstone team, TH Development Corporation, and other local employers working on community-building projects. The expanded format includes a dedicated entrepreneurship component, reflecting growing support for small business development in the region.
Dawson City is seeing significant construction activity, including the $63.9 million Recreation Centre and the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Heritage Complex, which secured nearly $25 million in federal funding. These projects are creating employment opportunities, and the fair’s timing aligns with the end of the tourism season and the start of winter work.
Yukon’s labour market remains tight, with an unemployment rate of 3.9% in February 2026 and an average offered hourly wage of $34.35 for vacant jobs. The fair offers residents a chance to connect with employers and business support organizations, including the Klondike Development Organization and local development corporations.
