A woman is facing impaired driving charges after a vehicle crashed into a home in Red Deer’s Highland Green Estates neighbourhood on August 27, 2026.
Red Deer RCMP received a 911 call at 10:15 p.m. reporting a collision into a residence. A 29-year-old Red Deer woman was arrested after allegedly driving while impaired and hitting both a parked car and the house, causing structural damage to the fence, garage, and side of the home.
No one was injured, as the parked car and the residence were unoccupied at the time. Police said the driver initially left the scene but later returned and cooperated with investigators.
The woman faces charges of operation while impaired, operation over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, mischief over $5,000, and failure to stop after an accident. She was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day vehicle impoundment under Alberta’s Traffic Safety Act Immediate Roadside Sanctions. She was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on October 9, 2026.
That same evening at 10:42 p.m., the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Unit arrested a second impaired driver in the downtown area. A 32-year-old was charged with impaired driving, operation while impaired over 80 mg of alcohol, driving an uninsured vehicle, and operating without registration, along with outstanding warrants.
RCMP are reminding residents to report suspected impaired driving immediately by calling 403-406-2200 or 911 if the situation is urgent.
