Young hockey players in The Pas, Manitoba, will hit the ice this weekend as The Pas Minor Hockey Association begins tryouts for the 2026-27 season on Saturday, September 12.
The The Pas Huskies have scheduled sessions for U11 Female and U15 A divisions on opening day, with additional tryouts for U15 A, U13 A, and U13 Female following on September 13, 19, and 20. The U15 A tryout on September 13 will take place at Whitney Forum in Flin Flon.
Families are reminded that a minimum 50% payment of registration fees is required before any player steps on the ice. Players will not be permitted to participate until that payment is processed, according to a notice from the association.
The association is also urgently seeking convenors and house league coaches for the U11 age group and above. Anyone willing to coach or assist is asked to contact the executive board as soon as possible.
For those interested in officiating, referee training clinics are scheduled to begin on October 17. More details on local and regional sessions will be shared as the start date approaches.
Patrick Rollins has been announced as the new president of The Pas Minor Hockey Association, while the vice president position remains vacant. The association has served the Tri-Community area of The Pas, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, and the Rural Municipality of Kelsey since 1934.
