Pitt Meadows residents can look forward to a stretch of sunny weather this week as morning cloud gives way to clear skies and warm temperatures, according to Environment Canada.
As of 1:00 p.m. Monday, the city sat at 18.1°C under mainly cloudy skies with no weather alerts in effect. Conditions are expected to improve quickly, with sunny skies arriving Wednesday and continuing through Friday. Highs will climb to 19°C on Wednesday and Thursday, and reach 21°C on Friday, while inland areas could see up to 24°C.
Overnight lows will stay comfortable, ranging from 11°C to 13°C, with clear nights through Thursday and cloudy periods Friday night. The mild temperatures are only slightly above the September norm of 10°C for nighttime lows.
The forecast offers ideal late-summer weather for outdoor plans through the work week. After a cloudy start, there is no rain in the forecast once the sun returns on Wednesday. Residents are reminded that despite the dry spell, Pitt Meadows remains a flood-prone area, with about 85% of the city located within the Fraser River and Pitt River floodplains, and flooding can happen any time, not just during spring freshet.
