Residents of The Pas, Manitoba, can hear directly from municipal election candidates at a public forum on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The Pas OCN Chamber of Commerce and University College of the North are hosting the event from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the UCN cafeteria, 436 7th Street. A Zoom option is available for those who cannot attend in person.
The forum gives voters a chance to learn about each candidate’s values, priorities, and vision before the general municipal election on October 28, 2026. The event comes after Mayor Andre Murphy resigned effective immediately on August 10, 2026, and said he will not run again. Deputy Mayor Carrie Atkinson is handling most day-to-day duties until the election, with no byelection planned before then.
“Learn about each candidate’s values, priorities, and vision for our region so you can make an informed vote,” the forum event page states. The Chamber represents businesses across The Pas, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, and the Rural Municipality of Kelsey.
Manitoba’s municipal election will choose mayors, reeves, councillors, and school board trustees across the province. In The Pas, voters will elect a new mayor and council for the next four years.
