Ajax residents can expect a calm and mild stretch of weather this week after Sunday’s showers cleared out.
Environment Canada reports no weather warnings or alerts are currently in effect for the Durham Region. As of Monday afternoon, conditions at the Oshawa Executive Airport, the official observation site for Ajax, were mainly sunny with a temperature of 14 C.
The seven-day forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud with clear nights. Daytime highs will range from 17 to 21 C, while overnight lows are expected to sit between 4 and 11 C. Those numbers are close to seasonal normals for late September, which typically see a high of 18 C and a low of 8 C.
The calm weather lines up with the start of autumn. This year’s fall equinox happens on September 22 at 8:04 p.m. EDT, marking the official turn of the seasons.
Given Ajax’s location on the north shore of Lake Ontario and its role as a snowbelt community, the current lack of alerts is notable. Environment Canada’s alert system uses a colour scale, with grey for special weather statements, yellow for moderate impacts, orange for significant impacts, and red for life-threatening conditions. No such alerts are active at this time.
