Residents of Amherst should prepare for a wet and windy Saturday as Environment Canada forecasts unsettled weather throughout the day on April 11, 2026. The national weather agency is calling for mainly cloudy skies and showers expected to bring up to 5 millimetres of rain.
Strong winds are also in the forecast for the community. Southwest winds of 30 kilometres per hour, with gusts reaching 50 kilometres per hour, are expected this morning. These winds are then anticipated to shift to the northwest this afternoon, maintaining the same speed and gust intensity.
The conditions are expected to remain cool, with a daily high reaching 9°C. As the day progresses, the weather will turn colder, and residents can expect rain showers or flurries to continue until around midnight, with temperatures dropping to the freezing point of 0°C. An additional 2 to 4 millimetres of precipitation is expected tonight.
Current data collected at the Nappan AAFC weather station at 10:00 AM showed a temperature of 5.6°C, with high humidity levels at 92 percent. Those planning outdoor activities or visiting local Town of Amherst facilities should take the gusty winds and rain into account.
