The Amherst Police Department has arrested two local men following a violent robbery that occurred on Spring Street in Amherst, Nova Scotia, on March 10, 2026. Police were called to the scene shortly before 1:00 a.m. after receiving reports that two men had been attacked and robbed.
Investigators say a vehicle stopped on the street and the suspects got out to assault the victims. The suspects stole a backpack before fleeing the area in the same vehicle.

Smith is also facing charges for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle while over the legal blood-alcohol limit. Officers successfully recovered the vehicle used in the crime and the stolen backpack.
