Daytime highs will reach 26°C on Tuesday and 27°C on Wednesday and Thursday, which is about 2 to 3 degrees above the usual late-July maximum of 24°C. Overnight lows will drop to 13°C tonight, with lows of 18°C and 17°C on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Fog patches are expected to develop overnight and clear by morning, a common pattern for this coastal community.
The warm spell comes with some caution. The UV index is expected to hit 8, or very high, on Wednesday July 29. Residents spending time outside should protect themselves by staying out of direct sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., wearing UV-blocking sunglasses, and applying sunscreen every two hours.
Humidex values will reach 32 on Tuesday and Wednesday, falling into what Environment Canada describes as a range of “some discomfort.” People planning outdoor exercise should consider modifying or limiting their activities to avoid overheating.
The warm trend will break late Thursday night and into Friday, when showers are expected Thursday night and a 60 percent chance of showers continues Friday, with daytime temperatures dropping to around 20°C. No weather alerts are currently in effect for the area.
