St. Francis Xavier University is inviting both students and local residents to a Spring Carnival in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, this Friday. The event will take place on March 27, 2026, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. as an opportunity for the community to visit the campus and relax.
Organized by the Flourish@X Health and Wellness Programming team, the carnival will feature several classic games. Visitors can play darts, a circus toss, and a mini basketball hoop, or use a photo booth with props while enjoying treats and competing for prizes.
The festivities are held at the Bloomfield Hub, which is located at the café on the second floor of the Bloomfield Centre at 5555 Union Place. This space is intended to be a welcoming area where people can take a break from their daily routines and build community connections.
The university is located on Mi’kma’ki, which is the unceded ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaw people. In the Mi’kmaw language, the name for Antigonish is Nalikitquniejk, which means the place where branches are torn off.
This carnival is part of a broader effort to provide proactive mental health care through social participation. By hosting events that focus on fun and games, the organizers hope to help individuals build healthy coping skills and resilience.
