Dr. Sasho MacKenzie, a sports biomechanics professor at St. Francis Xavier University, won the 100th Men’s Club Championship at the Antigonish Golf & Country Club on the weekend of August 9-10, 2026. MacKenzie shot a 4-under par final round and finished one stroke ahead of the field after getting up and down on the 18th hole.
“Played some decent golf this weekend and was fortunate to get up and down on 18 to shoot 4-under and win by one,” MacKenzie said. “Proud to be the 100th Men’s Club Champion at Antigonish Golf & Country Club.”
This marks MacKenzie’s third club championship at Antigonish, having won back-to-back titles in 2020 and 2021. The milestone win was particularly meaningful as it came during the club’s centennial year. The course was founded in 1926 and has served local golfers for a century.
MacKenzie is internationally known in golf circles as a leading biomechanist. He co-founded The Stack System, a speed training program used by PGA Tour players including 2022 U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick. MacKenzie also consults for equipment companies PING and FootJoy, and has worked with Major League Baseball teams on bat fitting.
At St. Francis Xavier University, MacKenzie teaches and conducts research in the Department of Human Kinetics, focusing on optimizing human movement for sport performance.
