As of July 20, morning temperatures sit at 10°C under clear skies, with a high of 21°C expected later in the day, according to The Weather Network. There is a 60 per cent chance of afternoon rain, with about 1mm of precipitation possible. Overnight, temperatures will drop to around 12°C.
Environment Canada confirms no watches or warnings are in effect for the area. For those planning outdoor activities, Parks Canada notes that July is typically Banff’s warmest month, with average highs of 22°C and lows of 7°C. Rainfall averages about 51mm for the month, with no snowfall expected.
Banff’s mountain weather is famously changeable. Parks Canada cautions that conditions can shift quickly, and temperatures drop roughly one degree for every 200 metres of elevation gain. With the town sitting at nearly 1,400 metres above sea level, afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer.
