Barrie Hill Farms has teamed up with the Knights of Columbus Barrie Council 1626 to donate $15,000 to local community programs. The announcement came on the farm’s Instagram page on August 13, 2026.
The contribution continues the long history of giving by both groups. The Knights of Columbus has run its annual Blueberry Pancake Festival at Barrie Hill Farms for 23 years, with proceeds going to Hospice Simcoe. The farm, operated by second-generation owner Morris Gervais, also runs an active donation program that supports many local not-for-profits each year.
“At Barrie Hill Farms we strive to support local and give back to the community,” the farm states on its website. “We support a variety of not-for-profit organizations each year.”
The Knights of Columbus Barrie Council has served the area for more than a century from its hall on Berczy Street. The council regularly organizes food drives, coat drives, and fundraisers for groups like Habitat for Humanity and Hospice Simcoe. Its Easter 2026 drive alone collected over 2,400 pounds of food and more than $3,200 in donations.
Barrie Hill Farms, located just outside the city in Springwater, began as a tobacco farm in 1968 before switching to berries and vegetables. Today it grows more than 200 acres of produce and is one of the largest highbush blueberry farms in Ontario.
