The City of Barrie is reviewing a new plan from Piveon Developments to build five large towers in the downtown area. This project at 145 Bradford Street and 48 Ellen Street in Barrie, Ontario, would feature buildings ranging from 51 to 61 storeys tall, connected by an 11-storey podium.
According to city records, the application officially reached the review stage on February 18, 2026. The plan is part of a trend toward building more homes in the city’s Ward 2, which is already seeing a lot of new construction activity.
If approved, the five towers would create a major change in the local skyline and significantly increase the number of people living in the neighbourhood with nearly 1,800 new units proposed. Local residents will have the chance to share their thoughts on how the project might affect local services and the character of the community during a formal public meeting scheduled for April 22, 2026.
The city planning department is currently looking at the technical details of the proposal to ensure it meets local requirements. Updates on the project and further details on public feedback will be available as the review continues.
