The Barrie Police Service is investigating an assault that took place in the downtown area early on the morning of May 5, 2026. Officers were called to a home on Mary Street at approximately 1:45 a.m. regarding an injured man.
A 34-year-old local man was transported to a hospital to receive treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from medical care.
During their search of the area, police located and detained three individuals at a residence on Maple Avenue. All three people were later released unconditionally. Investigators state that the individuals involved in the incident are believed to know one another and consider the event to be isolated.
Police have noted that the victim has been uncooperative with their investigation. Anyone who has information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Barrie Police Service.
