Residents in the Bay Roberts area can get free garbage bags and gloves for World Cleanup Day on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The Eastern Regional Service Board (ERSB) is inviting local groups to sign up for its Community Clean-up Program.
The program provides groups with 100 clear garbage bags and a box of disposable gloves. It also covers disposal fees at designated Waste Recovery Facilities. Groups must register at least seven business days in advance by contacting Kevin Butt, Facility & Fleet Manager, at [email protected] or toll-free 1-877-878-2166.
World Cleanup Day is now an official United Nations International Day. Last year, 25 million people from 190 countries took part. The ERSB says the initiative helps keep communities across eastern Newfoundland clean, green, and litter-free.
The ERSB serves 163 communities and about 270,000 people in the region. Bay Roberts switched to ERSB waste collection in July 2024. More information about community cleanups is available on the ERSB website.
