The City of Beaumont has released its official list of photo radar enforcement locations for May 2026, with all scheduled monitoring dates focused on school and playground zones. These measures are part of a community effort to manage traffic as warmer weather brings more pedestrians and cyclists to local streets.
The city currently operates 24 active enforcement sites across the municipality. Of these, 20 sites are used to monitor vehicle speeds, while four sites are dedicated to stop sign enforcement. This program, managed by a Community Peace Officer, follows provincial regulations that restricted automated enforcement to school, playground, and construction zones starting in April 2025.
Recent data indicates that focusing enforcement in these areas has contributed to improved safety. In 2025, there were five collisions reported at or near these zones, representing a nearly 80 percent decrease from the previous year. No injuries or fatalities were recorded at these sites during that period.
The Alberta RCMP is encouraging drivers to stay alert and follow posted speed limits. Sgt. Darrin Turnbull noted that speeding remains one of the biggest threats to traffic safety and that residents should prioritize their safety over saving a few minutes. This reminder comes as Beaumont continues to grow, with the population reaching 26,305 residents in 2025.
