The École Edward Schreyer Barons varsity girls basketball team secured a 61-16 victory over Ste. Anne Collegiate during the Southeast Showdown tournament. The final score was posted to the provincial sports scoreboard on March 1, 2026.
This win took place during the tournament held during the final weekend of February. The team is led by head coach TJ Scharer and assistant coach Darcy Gibbons.
The dominant performance follows a similar trend for the Barons this season. The team previously defeated Ste. Anne with a score of 59-13 during an exhibition game held on December 17, 2025.
According to the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association, the Barons are now moving into the post-season. The team will travel to Lorette to compete in the first round of the rural provincial championships on March 6 and March 7, 2026.
