The town posted the notice on its Local Notices page June 22, encouraging all property owners to attend. Manitoba reassesses properties every two years, and the latest cycle bases values on the market as of April 1, 2025. Those figures are landing in mailboxes this spring and summer.
Provincial assessors from the Selkirk Assessment Branch handle valuations for Beausejour and the Eastman Region. While the town sets its own municipal tax rate, it cannot change the assessment number assigned by the province. That makes the open house a key moment for owners to understand how the value on their notice could shape their tax bill.
Beausejour property taxes are a mix of three parts: the provincial assessment, the municipal portion, and school taxes collected for the Sunrise School Division. A higher assessment can push taxes up, unless councils adjust their mill rates. In 2026 the town’s municipal rate sits at 16.009 mills.
Anyone who still disagrees with their assessment after talking to an assessor can file a written appeal with the municipality’s Board of Revision before September 8. The town’s website also points residents to online tools, including MyPropertyMB, where they can check their assessment details anytime. The July 7 event gives the community a face-to-face chance to dig into the numbers that matter to household budgets.
