The Town of Beausejour is inviting residents to a public open house on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, to review proposed updates to the community zoning rules. The event will take place from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Beau-Head Seniors Centre, located at 645 Park Avenue, and offers residents a chance to learn about potential changes that could shape future growth in the area.
This project began in November 2024, when the town hired CVLNS, a planning consultancy based in Winnipeg, to review the existing rules. The update is necessary to ensure the town’s zoning stays in line with the current development plan for the Brokenhead River Planning District. Under provincial rules, municipal zoning must remain consistent with the broader regional development plan.
Proposed updates include allowing secondary suites in all single-detached homes and permitting new tri-plexes and quad-plexes on smaller lots in specific residential zones. The draft also introduces a new commercial zone for medium-scale development, creates new categories for activities such as chicken keeping and short-term rentals, and enhances design rules for the downtown area.
Officials noted that existing properties will not be affected by these changes, as the new rules only apply to future construction. The Town of Beausejour is encouraging community members to attend the come-and-go session to ask questions and share feedback with project representatives.
