Residents in the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead, Manitoba, will soon be able to see how their local council plans to spend tax dollars for the year. The 2026 spending plan will be available for people to look at starting April 10, 2026, ahead of an upcoming community meeting.
A public meeting will take place on April 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the council chambers of the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead office at #72013 Road 42E. Located at the corner of Highway 44 and Provincial Road 302, the meeting gives neighbors a chance to ask questions or share their views before the budget is finished.
This local review comes shortly after the Manitoba government announced an increase to a property tax credit that helps homeowners with costs. According to the municipality’s Assessment and Taxation records, the tax rate for rural properties in 2025 was 22.724, while properties in Tyndall-Garson had a rate of 20.194.
Following provincial law, all local governments must hold these meetings to explain how they will pay for services like road work and community programs. The council, which includes Reeve Brad Saluk and four councilors, has until May 15, 2026, to officially approve the final plan.
