Behchokǫ̀ residents looking for work have two new local options after the Canada-Northwest Territories Job Bank added postings on August 21, 2026: a shipping and receiving clerk role at Northern Exposure (2021), a locally owned freight and transportation company that has operated in Behchokǫ̀ since at least 2016, and a kitchen helper job at F.C. Services Ltd., a convenience store, fuel station, and light mechanical service provider on Dona Tili.
The new listings bring the total number of jobs advertised for Behchokǫ̀ to seven, according to the Job Bank. Five were posted in the last 30 days, and two have been up for more than a month. The clerk position was posted directly by Northern Exposure, while the kitchen helper posting was listed through a licensed third party on the employer’s behalf.
The postings come as the Northwest Territories labour market softens. The territorial employment rate fell from 66.3 per cent in January 2025 to 62.9 per cent in January 2026, and youth employment dropped from 43.6 per cent to 35.1 per cent over the same period. Behchokǫ̀, the largest Dene community in Canada and headquarters of the Tłı̨chǫ Government, had a population of 1,746 in the 2021 Census.
