Behchokǫ̀, NT, will enjoy a brief return to sunny and warm weather on Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures climbing well above the seasonal normal. According to Environment Canada, Tuesday, September 1, will see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 19°C, followed by a cloudy but warm 20°C on Wednesday, September 2. Both days will be about 4 to 5 degrees warmer than the usual early September high of 15°C.
After Monday’s mainly cloudy and cooler 16°C, the warm-up offers residents a chance to get outside. Tuesday night is expected to be clear with a low of 8°C, ideal for stargazing or late summer activities. Wednesday night will be cloudier and milder at 12°C.
The sunny stretch will be short-lived. Environment Canada forecasts showers and cooler conditions arriving on Thursday, September 3, with a high of 15°C and a low of 4°C. That marks a return to fall-like weather and a reminder that the region’s short summer is ending.
No weather alerts are currently in effect for the North Slave Region, including Behchokǫ̀. The community of about 2,000 residents is the largest Tłı̨chǫ settlement in the Northwest Territories, and this mid-week warmth offers one of the final chances for outdoor activities before colder temperatures settle in later in September.
