Residents in Brandon can expect a significant shift in the weather this week as a cold Sunday morning gives way to much warmer temperatures. While temperatures at the Brandon Airport dropped to -5.3°C on Sunday morning with a wind chill of -11°C, a major warmup is on the horizon.
According to Environment Canada, the current cold snap is well below the seasonal average of 12°C for this time of year. There are currently no weather alerts in effect for the city. Residents heading out for any remaining Sunday activities should continue to dress warmly until the conditions improve.
The weather is set to take a turn for the better starting Monday. Environment Canada projects daily highs to reach 18°C on both Monday and Tuesday. The Weather Network is forecasting even warmer conditions, predicting that Tuesday could reach a peak of 22°C. These temperatures are well above the typical April highs, which usually range between 5°C and 15°C.
The mild weather will be short-lived, however, as cooler temperatures and rain are expected to return by Thursday. Environment Canada is calling for a 70% chance of showers and a daytime high of 12°C to end the work week.
