Residents who visited the emergency department waiting room at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on February 21, 2026, may have been exposed to measles, according to provincial health officials. Manitoba Health identified the hospital at 150 McTavish Ave. E. as a site of potential risk in Brandon, Manitoba, following a record-breaking surge of the virus.
Anyone who was present at the hospital between 12:50 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. on that Saturday is urged to check their vaccination records and watch for symptoms. This warning comes as the province recorded 139 confirmed cases in February 2026 alone, which is the highest monthly total since the current outbreak started in 2025.
The total number of confirmed cases for the 2026 calendar year has already reached 215, with many infections linked to a farm show called Manitoba Ag Days that was held in late January. Data from Manitoba Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care shows that over 84 per cent of the people infected during this outbreak were not immunized.
People who are not immunized and were at the hospital during the exposure times are advised to watch for symptoms for 21 days and limit their contact with others. Health officials suggest staying away from people with weak immune systems or those who have not had their shots from the 5th day after exposure until the 21st day.
