The Brandon Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is welcoming two new families into its homeownership program as construction for the 2026 spring season begins in Brandon, Manitoba. This local initiative is part of a larger provincial effort by Habitat for Humanity Manitoba to build 31 homes across the province this year.
The local chapter has served the community for more than 25 years and has successfully finished over 45 homes to date. According to the Brandon Area Community Foundation, these projects focus on providing stability and security for local residents through affordable housing solutions.
Major work in 2026 includes starting the Assiniboine Gardens development, a project that involves a partnership with the City of Brandon. Local officials have provided land for the builds, which will create a significant number of new homes for families in the region.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the building projects that are starting this spring. These efforts rely on community support and volunteer labour to turn donated land into completed houses for neighbours in need.
